Beef Tips & Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2lbs of Sirloin, cut into bite size pieces

  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 4 tablespoons flour

    Gravy

  • 1 yellow onion, chopped

  • 6 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 3 cups beef broth

  • 2 beef bouillon cube

  • 4 tablespoons, cold butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/4 cup cold water +3 tablespoons cornstarch

Combine beef seasoning together in a bowl. Coat cut beef tips in the seasoning. Sprinkle flour over the meat and mix to coat.

Heat 3 tablespoons olive oil in a dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the meat to the pan in batches, and seer the meat for 30 seconds on each side, do not fully cook the meat. Set meat to the side.

Reduce heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons butter to the pan and cook the onions till they’re soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic till fragrant.

Add beef broth, beef bouillon cube, 1 tablespoon butter, thyme, rosemary, onion powder, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce. Bring ingredients to a boil.

Whisk in the cornstarch/water mixture a little at a time, stirring constantly.

Reduce heat to medium-lo. Add the beef and any juice in the bowl to the mixture. Add the lid, slightly askew to the top of the pot. Cook and let thicken for 15-20 minutes, until beef is cooked through.

Serve over mashed potatoes or vegetable of your choice.
